Next to the list shaft and below the servants staircase is the cellar, one room is called the Switch Room and this is where all the electrical system and lift operating mechanisms is located
The house used to operate on a 110v system so there was many valves and panels relating to this, it was not until the early 1980s that 240v was installed and some of the house converted to that as the 110v system is no longer used for safety reasons
