The Smoking Room is to the immediate left of the entrance foyer and its use was exactly as the name suggests. This was a room specifically for those who smoked in that the Gentleman of the house would reteat here to enjoy a relaxing smoke away from the ladies.

He would probably have worn a comfortable velvet jacket and cap. The velvet clothing and also curtains was intended to absorb the smoke to avoid comtaminating other rooms of the house.

It has a display unit placed into the wall and tastefully decorated.

Since the 1960s its had been mainly used as an office for Neil Alymer Hunter the 29th Laird but after his death in 1994 the room was abandoned and just used for storage.
