On the roof of the building is a bell that could be rung using the rope that accessible from the upper and lower floors and still works to this day and pretty loud.

The bell is enclosed within a wooden pyramid turret with a iron weather vane on top.

The bell would have been rung to summon other workers and servants to return for either additional help, for their dinner but would also have been used as a fire alarm. As each room in the main house has a fireplace and candles a fire could easily take hold and by ringing the bell could summon everyone to attend and put out the fire.
